Adopter Information

Animal Information

Purpose

This agreement is made to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of the adopted animal. The adopter understands and agrees that the animal has been rescued and is being adopted as a companion, not for resale, neglect, abuse, or inhumane purposes.

General Care Requirements (All Animals)

- Provide proper food, clean water, shelter, and daily care.

- Ensure timely and ongoing veterinary care, including vaccinations, parasite control, and emergency care.

- Never allow the animal to be used for fighting, breeding, experimentation, or profit.

- Never abandon, sell, or transfer ownership without written consent from Second Chance Farm Sanctuary.

- Allow reasonable follow-up checks (phone calls, photos, or visits) by the rescue to ensure welfare.

Specific Requirements for Horses & Large Animals

- Provide safe fencing, clean water, and adequate shelter at all times.

- Provide regular hoof care (farrier visits every 6–8 weeks or as needed).

- Provide regular dental care and veterinary check-ups.

- Maintain proper nutrition according to the horse’s needs.

- Never allow the horse to be neglected, abandoned, or sent to auction/kill pen/slaughter.

- Return the horse to Second Chance Farm Sanctuary or obtain written approval before transfer. Any verified neglect or abuse will result in immediate repossession by the Rescue.

Spay/Neuter (Dogs & Cats)

If not already altered due to age or health, adopter agrees to have the animal spayed/neutered by and provide proof to Second Chance Farm Sanctuary.

Return Policy

If the adopter cannot keep the animal, it must be returned to Second Chance Farm Sanctuary. The adopter may not rehome, sell, or give away the animal without written consent.

Adoption Fee

An adoption fee has been paid to help cover rescue and veterinary care costs. The amount is:

Legal Agreement

The adopter understands this is a binding legal contract.

Any breach may result in repossession of the animal and/or legal action.

The adopter releases Second Chance Farm Sanctuary from liability for any injuries, damages, or health issues related to the animal post-adoption.
